Makita's Do-It-Yourself Club Participates in a Children's Festival as a Volunteer Crew

April 30, in the dry riverbed of the Otsukawa river in Okazaki City in Aichi, Japan, the “Children's Festival” was held under the sponsorship of Okazaki City and its Board of Education. The festival offered children the experience of doing hands-on building projects. The entire crew of the Makita Do-It-Yourself Club manned a "wood block play corner" as volunteers. The event was intended to have kids and their parents experience the joy of building something.

Amid weather reminiscent of early summer, the festival attracted around 350 children and their parents. Participating children used jig saws to cut out the shapes of comic book characters, animals, or other figures to create items such as coasters or puzzles, enjoying playing with pieces of wood.

The unexpectedly large attendance was such that all of the available materials were used up.
