Makita (China) Co., Ltd. is building a branch factory with the goal of starting operations in July, 2006. The factory will become an important parts supplier to Japanese, European, and US factories, strengthening Makita's capacity by securing space for making parts that had been squeezed as a result of production increases.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on September 7, at which President Goto and Director Torii were joined by around 50 attendees, including numerous Chinese Government officials. Following greetings from President Goto, the actual groundbreaking was done with a hoe, (see photo), making it a lively ceremony.

In August, Makita (Kunshan) Co., Ltd. completed its third factory, for which construction began in January 2005. The factory began production in September.
