Makita Wins Aichi Environmental Award 2018 Our cordless gardening equipment with energy efficient motors and lithium-ion batteries was highly regarded.

We have received the Aichi Environmental Award*1 2018 in high recognition of our contribution to the environment through the development of cordless power tools and gardening equipment employing energy efficient motors and lithium-ion batteries, and small engine technology that makes exhaust gas cleaner.
Efforts to solve global environmental problems including social contribution activities have recently attracted much attention. Under such circumstances, we have declared the following basic principle: “As a global supplier of power tools used in building homes and in everyday life, Makita is aiming to conduct a wide range of environmental protection activities, taking into consideration biodiversity, in order to build an affluent society for future generations.” Under this principle, we are responding to global environmental problems, such as global warming, and also trying hard to build a sustainable society through the merging of the environment and the economy.

We will continue to promote a transition from gasoline engines to cordless gardening tools using lithium-ion battery control technology and focus on accelerating technological innovation to become a leading company in the gardening tool segment.

Note 1: The Aichi Environmental Award is a prize created by Aichi Prefectural government in 2005. The award recognizes and honors companies or organizations that have achieved effective and pioneering results in the development of technology and a product, construction of a business system, nonprofit activities and education concerning recycling resources, or reducing environmental burdens, and publicizing the activities with the aim of promoting the establishment of a recycling community.
