Makita's advances in motor technology have led to the development of 4-pole DC motor found in the new Lithium-ion Cordless Drill Series.

While general DC motor has 2 magnetic pole, 4-pole DC motor has 4 magnetic pole.

In case of 4-pole, there are 4 line of magnetic force, which makes less space of low magnetic flux density than 2-pole, eventually this means high efficiency of energy consumption.

Also the force can make magnetic force per pole smaller, which makes magnet and yoke thinner and total weight can be reduced.
