REACH Compliance
REACH ("Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals") is a European Union chemical regulatory framework that entered into force on 1 June 2007.
According to Article 33 of the Regulation, companies distributing products that contain one or more so-called Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) in a concentration of more than 0.1 % by weight are subject to certain information requirements.
Makita investigates, manages and supplies information regarding SVHCs contained in our products. The number of SVHCs continues to grow and content information collection must be continually performed. We promote component procurement that ensures that none of this required information is missed.

Ecodesign & Energy labelling
The Ecodesign Directive, 2009/125/EC, provides EU-wide rules for improving the environmental performance of products such as lightbulbs, household appliances and televisions which are responsible for around 40% of all EU greenhouse gas emissions. Minimum requirements for the energy efficiency of these products are established by product specific additional legislation.
The Energy Labelling Regulation (EU) 2017/1369 complements the ecodesign requirements with mandatory labelling requirements for certain products.
Makita ensures that all products in our range that are in the scope of this legislation are fully in conformity with the requirements. Examples of devices under this legislation are our workplace lighting, lamps on transportable tools and external power supplies for our jobsite radios.
